Google Gemini Advanced: AI Expansion and Rebranding |

Google has announced a significant expansion of its AI capabilities with the introduction of “Gemini Advanced,” a new experience built on the company’s latest AI models, called Gemini. This, the company says, marks a major step forward in Google’s mission to make AI more helpful and accessible to everyone.
In December 2023, Google embarked on its journey to make AI more beneficial for everyone. This marked the beginning of the Gemini era, setting a new benchmark across a wide range of text, image, audio, and video apps. Gemini is more than just a set of models; it supports an entire ecosystem, from the products used by billions of people every day to the APIs and platforms that aid developers and businesses in innovation.
The largest model, Ultra 1.0, is the first to surpass human experts on Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU). This model tests knowledge and problem-solving abilities across 57 subjects, including math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics.
Introducing Gemini Advanced
Bard, the platform that allowed people to directly experience Google’s most capable models, has been rebranded as Gemini to reflect the advanced technology at its core. Gemini is available in 40 languages on the web and will soon be available on a new Gemini app on Android and the Google app on iOS.
The version with Ultra will be known as Gemini Advanced, offering a more capable experience in reasoning, following instructions, coding, and creative collaboration. It can serve as a personal tutor, tailored to your learning style, or a creative partner, assisting you in planning a content strategy or building a business plan.
Users can access Gemini Advanced by subscribing to the new Google One AI Premium plan, which offers the best of Google’s AI features in one place. This premium plan builds on the popular Google One service, offering expanded storage and exclusive product features.
Expanding Gemini’s Capabilities
Gemini models are also being integrated into products that people and businesses use every day, including Workspace and Google Cloud:
Workspace: Over 1 million people are already using features like ‘Help me write’ to enhance their productivity and creativity through Duet AI. Duet AI will soon become Gemini for Workspace, and consumers with the Google One AI Premium plan will be able to use Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.
Google Cloud: For Cloud customers, Duet AI will also transition to Gemini in the coming weeks. Gemini will assist companies in boosting productivity, help developers code faster, and enable organizations to protect themselves from cyber attacks, among many other benefits.

Apple may be developing an iPhone with an under-display camera, and if it’s successful, it will be a remarkable achievement.  A recent rumor from Weibo user Digital Chat Station (translated into English) suggests that such a camera may appear in the 20th anniversary iPhone, which could be called the iPhone 20 and is expected to debut in 2027. The idea of an under-display camera for an iPhone would be novel, but it’s a feature that we’ve seen on several Android phones, with mixed results at best. An… Source link
