Amazon to charge delivery fees on all grocery orders under $150

Amazon.com Inc. will begin charging fees to online shoppers for grocery orders of less than $150, highlighting the difficult economics of delivering food to customers’ doors.

The new fees, which go into effect on February 28, are part of the company’s efforts to reduce costs and adjust to slower growth in online shopping. The Amazon Fresh grocery delivery service in the United States will cost $9.95 for orders under $50, $6.95 for orders between $50 and $100, and $3.95 for orders between $100 and $150, according to an email to customers obtained by Bloomberg.
