The USCIS issued a 469-page document in January 2023, proposing fee hikes for various immigration processes, including H-1B visas. If enacted, US employers sponsoring immigration employees will face increased costs. Since 2019, employers must electronically register beneficiaries for H-1B visas and file applications only for selected beneficiaries. The proposed fee for electronic registration, currently $10, may increase by 2050% to $215. The USCIS stated that the fee hikes are necessary to recover agency costs and address processing backlogs caused by the pandemic.
