In a recent Rajya Sabha meeting, the Parliamentary Standing Committee requested that the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) develop a strategy to assist small businesses in developing a technical tool that is compatible with ONDC’s protocols.
The ONDC will be moving closer to the Centre’s goals of onboarding small homegrown businesses, according to the standing committee. According to the Business Standard report, the committee stated that the DPIIT’s ONDC initiative is ambitious and revolutionary in a report titled “Promotion and Regulation of E-Commerce in India.” Furthermore, it identified flaws such as onboarding of existing ecommerce and compatibility as well as interoperability of existing buyer and seller apps that must be addressed in order for ONDC to be a successful initiative.
