Instagram users can now purchase item through the DM section

Meta-owned social media platform Instagram introduced a new way for small businesses to manage their customers online through the DM (direct messaging) section.

On its official website, Meta stated that it wants to “help people start conversations with businesses they care about and help them find and buy products they love in an easy, seamless experience, right from the chat thread.” Users will be able to make purchases without leaving the chat if they are chatting with a qualified small business account on Instagram in the future. For example, if users want to buy a t-shirt, they can message the company about it.

Users can also discuss any accessories or customisation services provided by the company. Following that, the business account will be able to send them a payment request via Meta Pay, upon which users will be able to place their order directly from the chat. Users will also be able to track their orders and ask the company any other questions.
