THDC India Signs Agreements for the Development of 3,270 MW Renewable Energy Projects in Karnataka

R K Vishnoi, the chairman and managing director of THDC India Ltd (THDCIL), announced the company’s plan to establish 3,270 megawatts (MWs) of clean energy projects, including pumped storage and floating solar, in Karnataka. The Uttarakhand-based company formalized this initiative by signing two memoranda of understanding with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The collaborative efforts outlined in these agreements encompass a diverse range of projects, including ground-mounted and floating solar projects, as well as hybrid projects featuring pumped storage projects (PSPs), with a cumulative capacity of approximately 3,270 MW, as stated by Vishnoi in a company release.

The signing ceremony, attended by K J George, Minister of Energy, Government of Karnataka, saw Gaurav Gupta, managing director of KPCL, and K P Rudrappaiah, MD of KREDL, signing the agreement alongside Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) of THDCIL.

Vishnoi emphasized that this strategic alliance not only reflects THDCIL’s dedication to clean energy but also indicates a promising trajectory for the region’s energy landscape through collaboration with prominent power entities in Karnataka.

THDCIL currently manages a diverse portfolio of 10 projects, including hydro, thermal, wind, and solar, with a combined capacity of 4,516 MW.
