US security agencies, including the FBI and NSA, have issued a warning about China-linked cyber actors known as BlackTech. These actors have targeted government, industrial, technology, media, electronics, and telecommunication sectors, including entities that support the militaries of the US and Japan. BlackTech has demonstrated the ability to modify router firmware without detection and exploit routers’ domain-trust relationships. They use custom malware, dual-use tools, and tactics to conceal their operations. The agencies recommend multinational corporations review subsidiary connections and implement Zero Trust models to limit potential compromises.
