Chip maker Intel appoints Gokul Subramaniam as its President of India business

US-based Intel Corporation recently announced the appointment of Gokul Subramaniam as the new President of Intel India.

Subramaniam, a veteran with over 11 years at Intel, will oversee the company’s comprehensive engineering and design operations within the country.

According to the company’s statement, Gokul’s role will be pivotal in steering innovation, enhancing cross-group efficiencies, and ensuring the seamless execution of Intel products from the Indian site.

Who is Gokul Subramaniam?

Gokul has a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering from the University of Madras, a master’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Texas and completed an executive program in general management from MIT Sloan School of Management.

He is the inventor of six patents with an additional five filed in the areas of compute, wireless, power management, industrial design, system and software.

Subramaniam, currently based in Bengaluru, holds the position of Vice President in the Client Computing Group (CCG) and is the General Manager of Client Platforms and Systems. He will assume the responsibilities of Intel India President while continuing to lead Client Platforms and Systems in CCG, the release notes.

Prior to joining Intel, Gokul held senior leadership positions in Texas Instruments and Nortel Networks.

“As a critical engineering and design center for Intel, Intel India plays a vital role in our company’s transformation journey and the trajectory towards product leadership. I am excited about the engineering prowess we have at the site and the opportunities it brings to accelerate innovation and advance excellence in execution of our engineering programs,” said Gokul.

Intel said Santhosh Viswanathan will maintain his role as Vice President and Managing Director-Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group (SMG) for its India operations and will focus on driving new revenue and exploring growth opportunities for its overall business in India.
