The All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) has filed a petition against Star India at the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). AIDCF wants Star India to stop offering free streaming of cricket matches on Disney+ Hotstar’s TV channel. The federation argues that charging cable TV subscribers for the same content while offering it for free online goes against regulatory frameworks. They also claim that this free streaming will negatively impact their members’ businesses as pay TV customers migrate to OTT platforms. The TDSAT has issued a notice to Star India, asking for a response by October 3.
