Zepto Promotes Ankit Agarwal to Chief Product Officer After Achieving Unicorn Status

Zepto, the quick commerce firm that recently achieved unicorn status, has promoted Ankit Agarwal to the role of Chief Product Officer. With over 13 years of product experience at companies like Flipkart, Delhivery, and Infra. Market, Agarwal joined Zepto in August of the previous year as Senior Vice President of Product, overseeing functions such as fulfillment, supply chain, last mile, and finance tech. Prior to this, Agarwal founded Orinko, a consumer brand for fruits and vegetables.

In his new role, Agarwal will be in charge of product, end-to-end, from consumer to supply chain and last mile, Zepto said in a statement. “We’re not following trends; we’re setting them. I’m excited to be part of that team that is revolutionizing commerce in India,” Agarwal said.

“A major part of the journey that lies ahead will be driven by innovation in product and technology. Ankit embodies the best of Zepto’s culture, demonstrating his ability time and time again to operate with incredible ownership, rigor, ambition, and deep customer centricity,” said Kaivalya Vohra, Chief Technology Officer at Zepto.

The company, which recently raised $200 million in a Series E funding round led by StepStone, aims to leverage this capital to expand its presence in key Indian cities and enhance its Zepto Café offering to boost margins and order volumes. Zepto has experienced rapid growth since its launch, consistently generating monthly revenues of $50 million to $60 million and reducing cash burn by 70% through operational improvements.

Zepto, led by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, is focused on revolutionizing commerce in India and setting new trends in the quick commerce sector.
