Scindia says users can delete Sanchar Saathi, contradicts DoT’s non-disable directive

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday, December 2, said that users can decide weather to “activate” or “delete” the Sanchar Saathi app, amid intensifying scrutiny of the Centre’s directive requiring its pre-installation on all mobile phones sold in India.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Scindia described the application as “optional,” asserting that it “can be deleted if you wish to,” and that it remains inactive unless a user registers.
