Google Maps now allows users to mark and save locations with emoji icons instead of text annotations. Tapping on a location opens a menu where users can save it and add a name. A new icon option at the top center allows users to choose from a list of emojis. However, users can only change the icon for the entire list of saved locations, not for individual locations. To change the icon for existing lists, users can tap on the Saved icon, select the desired list, and edit it by choosing an emoji.
