Ultraviolette launches special ‘Space Edition’ of F77 electric motorcycle

Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle manufacturer, Ultraviolette Automotive, has introduced a unique ‘Space Edition’ of its flagship F77 electric motorcycle. The launch of this special edition commemorates the Chandrayaan-3 mission and signifies the overall advancements in India’s aviation and space technology ecosystem.

Exclusive Lineup with Aerospace-Grade Materials

This special edition comprises a limited lineup of only 10 vehicles, distinct from Ultraviolette’s standard F77 models in terms of materials used and capabilities. Notably, the aluminum utilized in these motorcycles is of aerospace grade, akin to that found in fighter jets. The paints applied to the Space Edition F77 are also of aerospace grade, featuring temperature resistance, durability, and various other capabilities.

Ultraviolette Enhanced Features and Aviation-Inspired Systems

The F77 Space Edition boasts an extended range of 307 km. Furthermore, it incorporates fail-proof battery systems and a 9-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) to measure roll, pitch, and yaw – reminiscent of aircraft instrumentation. Riders can access real-time updates on the bike’s inclination, akin to a pilot’s display in an aircraft.

Ultraviolette Pricing and Availability

The F77 Space Edition comes at a price of INR 5.6 lakh, ex-showroom, in comparison to the standard F77 model’s starting price of INR 3.8 lakh, ex-showroom. Ultraviolette will commence bookings for the limited edition on August 22, giving enthusiasts the opportunity to own this unique iteration.

Ultraviolette’s Background and Electric Motorcycle Market in India

Founded in 2016 by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette launched the F77 motorcycle last year, marking its entry into the Indian electric motorcycle market. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the startup secured significant investments, with around $60 million raised so far from investors such as TVS Motor Company, Qualcomm Ventures, Lingotto, and Zoho Corporation.

As the market for electric motorcycles gradually gains traction in India, Ultraviolette’s entry has seen approximately 192 vehicle registrations in 2023, according to Vahan data. While Ultraviolette focuses on premium electric motorcycles, other players like Revolt are making strides in the commuter segment of the electric motorcycle market. The evolving landscape of electric vehicles indicates a promising future for sustainable transportation alternatives.
