Elon Musk’s attempt to update Twitter HQ logo foiled by police

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, made an audacious attempt to give Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters a facelift on Monday. Workers were in the process of removing the Twitter logo and lettering from the building’s exterior, presumably to make way for Musk’s new X logo.

Police Intervention Halts Twitter Logo Transformation

However, the project hit a roadblock when several San Francisco Police Department vehicles arrived at the scene. The police responded to a potential unpermitted street closure, causing an interruption to the logo transformation. Despite the police intervention, it was later clarified that no criminal activity had taken place.

Communication Gap Leads to Police Involvement

The incident occurred due to a miscommunication between the workers undertaking the logo removal and the building’s security and property owner. Although the workers had a valid work order to take down the sign, the lack of communication resulted in the police being called to the scene.

Twitter Rebrands as ‘X’ with New CEO’s Vision

On Monday, news surfaced of the platform’s new name. Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday, expressing his preference for the letter X. The company’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, also issued a statement about the updated name, emphasizing the significance of the rebranding and the platform’s transformation into a global town square.

This isn’t the first time Musk has attempted to alter the Twitter HQ sign. In April, he painted over the W in the logo, temporarily renaming the platform as “Titter.” However, the motive behind his desire to remove certain letters remains unclear.
