I recently spoke to my friend’s daughter, who has had a lifelong ambition to be an illustrator. Despite being extremely talented, she has decided to go in a different direction at university, telling me, “AI means that no one will pay artists to make art.”
I’m not convinced she is right. But if this pattern plays out repeatedly, the creative industries will be starved of fresh talent.
