Nintendo anticipates a strong fiscal year, projecting sales of 15 million units of its upcoming Switch 2 console. This positive outlook contributes to an expected 13% increase in operating profit, reaching JPY 320 billion (approximately $2.22 billion).
The Switch 2, launching on June 5th, represents a significant step for Nintendo, succeeding the hugely successful Switch, which has sold over 150 million units since its 2017 debut. The original Switch revitalized the company after the less successful Wii U.
A key challenge for Nintendo will be managing supply chains effectively to mitigate any potential disruptions, particularly those stemming from ongoing trade tensions. The Switch 2’s performance will be a crucial indicator of Nintendo’s ability to maintain its momentum in the competitive gaming market.
