Nintendo has cautioned that the price of its upcoming Switch 2 console could rise, following projections of weaker-than-expected initial sales. The company anticipates shipping 15 million units in the first year, falling short of the 16.8 million estimated by analysts.
This cautious outlook extends to Nintendo’s annual operating profit forecast of JPY 320 billion ($2.2 billion), which also lags behind expectations. Despite strong pre-orders for the $450 console, Nintendo is seemingly grappling with production costs and market uncertainties. The potential price increase suggests the company is prioritizing profit margins amid these challenges, potentially impacting consumer affordability and overall sales volume.
