The Alters Developer 11 Bit Studios Confirms It Used AI for Text, Translations in the Game



11 Bit Studios, the developer of survival game The Alters, is under fire for allegedly using AI-generated content in its recently launched title. A player’s discovery of what appeared to be AI-generated text prompted accusations. The screenshot shared showed text resembling a response from a generative AI tool.

In response, 11 Bit Studios acknowledged using AI-generated assets during development, clarifying that these were intended as placeholders only. They stressed that these AI-generated elements were never meant to be included in the final version of the game. To rectify the situation, the company announced plans to release an update to remove the unintended AI content.
