Neil Druckmann, co-creator and showrunner of HBO’s “The Last of Us,” is leaving his creative role on the series after two seasons. He will now dedicate his time to Naughty Dog’s upcoming projects, notably “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” and his duties as studio head.
Druckmann, who worked alongside Craig Mazin on the first two seasons, announced his departure in a statement shared by Naughty Dog. Season two of “The Last of Us,” consisting of seven episodes, aired in April and May. His exit signals a shift in focus towards new ventures at Naughty Dog, allowing him to fully concentrate on leading the studio and developing their future games. While his contributions to the acclaimed HBO series are undeniable, Druckmann is now turning his attention to the company’s wider creative pipeline.
