Sam Altman’s Eyeball-Scanning Identification Tech Expands to UK

Tools for Humanity, a startup co-founded by Sam Altman, is bringing its unique identity verification system to the UK, deploying its “Orb” devices across major cities. Starting this week, residents of London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Belfast and Glasgow can have their irises scanned at dedicated Orb locations in shopping malls and high streets.

These spherical Orbs are designed for individuals to prove their humanity in the digital age, a service Tools for Humanity believes is increasingly vital. The UK rollout marks a significant step in the company’s global expansion. The initiative aims to offer individuals a secure and private method of online identity verification. Damien Kieran, Chief Legal and Privacy Officer, emphasizes the accessibility and strategic placement of the Orb locations.
