Sony is investing approximately ₹4,010 crore (JPY 68 billion) to acquire a 2.5% stake in Bandai Namco, the publisher behind the hit game Elden Ring. This strategic partnership between the two Japanese giants, as announced in a recent press release, aims to leverage their combined strengths in anime, manga, and gaming.
The collaboration focuses on creating “new experiences” that “maximise the value of IP,” suggesting potential projects that bridge these entertainment sectors. This investment signifies Sony’s commitment to expanding its influence beyond traditional gaming, potentially exploring new avenues for content creation and distribution alongside Bandai Namco’s expertise. The partnership hints at future projects that could integrate anime and manga elements into interactive entertainment experiences.
