Meta introduces AI chatbot ‘Metamate’ to assist employees with meetings and coding tasks

Meta is reportedly introducing an AI chatbot named ‘Metamate’ to its employees. The chatbot has been trained on internal data and aims to assist employees with various tasks such as summarizing meetings, coding, and debugging features. This move is part of Meta’s broader efforts to leverage artificial intelligence within its operations.

According to reports from The Verge, Metamate utilizes company data to provide valuable support to employees. By summarizing meetings and offering assistance in writing code and debugging features, the AI chatbot aims to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.

Meta considered options from external partners like Microsoft and OpenAI to power the chatbot. However, the company ultimately chose to develop an in-house model for this purpose.

The implementation of Metamate follows Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement in February of creating a new product team dedicated to generative AI. The company aims to focus on developing creative and expressive tools in the short term.

Interestingly, Meta-owned platform Instagram is also reportedly exploring the integration of AI within its app. Recent reports suggest that Instagram is working on a feature that would enable users to chat with AI directly on the platform. This indicates Meta’s broader strategy of integrating AI technologies across its various services.

While Meta’s adoption of AI chatbots within its organization shows the potential for increased efficiency and productivity, it also highlights the growing trend of companies leveraging AI to enhance internal operations and provide better services to their users.
