The Indian Influencer Governing Council successfully hosted
its Third Chapter at Taj Bangalore, bringing over 100 top voices from the creator economy, including
marketing heads, digital leaders, and pioneering influencers under one roof. As the next step, IIGC
announced 2nd December to be celebrated “World Influencer Day”, a dedicated occasion to
recognize creators across genres and platforms.
The Bangalore Chapter was marked by the launch of IIGC Protect, a new initiative in collaboration
with Trilegal and United we Care x Adayu (Fortis), aimed at equipping influencers with legal
education and mental wellness support. The session featured inputs from Nikhil Sachdeva
(Partner, Trilegal), Rana Atheya (VP – Business, United We Care), Sachin Baliga (Advisor –
Neuromodulation Program, Fortis), and creator Aneri Thakkar.
The event also introduced the IIGC Taskforce and outlined the Code of Standards for brands.
Leaders such as Varun Oberoi (VP, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications,
Nissin) and Jaikishin Chhaproo (Head Media & Brand PR, ITC Limited) led this segment,
alongside Gaurang Thosani (Head Digital Marketing and e-Sales, Royal Sundaram) and
Aparajita Mukherjee (Head, Brands in Culture, DIAGEO), who discussed best practices for
responsible influencing.
Tej Prakash Yadav, BBC Media Action, said, “Influencers have the power to spark change, ignite
conversations that matter, and build something bigger than a brand: a movement. Influencing for
Good adds depth to social capital, strengthens credibility, and shows the world the human behind
the handle.”
Gunjan Taneja (@Gunjanshouts), added, “Being an influencer is not about the number of
followers or views, but the impact we are able to create. We need to consider that with our every
word, action and recommendation one or several of our followers will buy the product or service with
their hard earned money. Which is why it is our responsibility as creators to be cautious of what we
say, with maturity and sensibility before we put out content.”
Sahil Chopra, Chairman & Founding Member, IIGC, led the felicitation ceremony that honored
board members, as well as winners of the Indian Influencer Ratings Weekly Picks, which recognizes
both “Trendsetters” and emerging “Underdoggs.”
Commenting on the 3 rd Chapter, Sahil Chopra, said, “The influencer ecosystem in India is at a
turning point, moving from raw creativity to structured professionalism. With IIGC Protect, the Code
of Standards, and now World Influencer Day, we’re laying the foundation for a future where creators
are not just content generators, but powerful, responsible voices shaping culture, commerce, and
community.”
Winners included, Gunjan Taneja and Thaj, recognized as trendsetters. Ad.Sum.Twist, Vadiraj
Babaladi, Aashika Gowda, Deesha Umesh, Simran Anand, Sneha Shenoy, Nayanaa Pillai,
were recognized as underdogs.
With momentum from its three successful chapters, IIGC reaffirmed its commitment to
professionalize, strengthen, and celebrate India’s emerging creator economy.
