Amazon.com Inc agreed to pay $3.49 billion for primary care provider One Medical, expanding the e-commerce giant’s virtual healthcare and adding brick-and-mortar doctor’s offices for the first time.
The all-cash transaction would combine two relatively small players as Amazon continues its years-long march into U.S. healthcare in search of faster growth. In 2019, the online retailer piloted virtual care visits for its own employees in Seattle before expanding to other employers under the Amazon Care brand. It also purchased online pharmacy PillPack in 2018, which served as the foundation for a prescription delivery and price-comparison website that it later launched.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it.
