Google to let video apps on Android Automotive play audio while driving

Google will soon allow video apps on Android Automotive to switch to audio-only mode when the car is in motion — a move aimed at enhancing in-car content without compromising safety.

Currently, video playback on Android Automotive works only when the vehicle is parked. Once in motion, playback stops. While ideal for most content, it can be limiting for formats like video podcasts or live sports, where visuals aren’t essential.
