UP Govt Rolls Out WhatsApp Chatbot for Easy Access to RTO Services

Uttar Pradesh Launches 24×7 WhatsApp Chatbot for Transport Services

In a major step toward digital transformation, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has introduced a round-the-clock WhatsApp chatbot to offer citizens easy access to transport-related services. Launched on May 2, 2025, the chatbot eliminates the need to physically visit RTO offices by allowing users to access services such as vehicle registration, driving licence details, challan status, and more, directly from their smartphones.

Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh highlighted that this initiative aims to deliver transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly governance. “The chatbot bridges the gap between the department and the public,” he noted, emphasizing that it reduces long queues and makes processes simpler.

Integrated with the Central Vahan and Sarthi databases, the chatbot ensures that users receive real-time, verified information. It supports multiple languages to accommodate Uttar Pradesh’s diverse population.

Beyond basic information, the bot also offers guided help for services like road tax payments, ownership transfers, and checking application status — thereby cutting paperwork and confusion.

To access the chatbot, users can save the number 8005441222 and send “Hi” on WhatsApp. They’ll instantly receive a menu of available services — accessible 24×7 from the comfort of home.
