PM Modi, Elon Musk Discuss Strategic Collaboration on Tech & Innovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that he had a conversation with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, revisiting topics they had previously discussed during Modi’s U.S. visit earlier this year. In a post on X, Modi shared that the two explored the vast potential for collaboration in technology and innovation, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the United States in these areas.

The two had last met in February during Modi’s two-day U.S. trip, where Musk visited him at the Blair House, accompanied by his three children. That meeting touched on key areas like space, mobility, and innovation. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), their discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in emerging technologies, space exploration, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, with an emphasis on enhancing India-U.S. collaboration in these domains.

This wasn’t their first meeting—Modi previously interacted with Musk in California in 2015 and in New York in 2023. Musk, who holds significant influence within the Donald Trump administration, also leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to reduce federal spending and streamline government operations.
