
Google expressed doubts over the structure, composition and functionality of a self-regulated grievance appellate committee (GAC).
The idea to create the GAC was originally put out by Twitter and Meta, as well as the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI). Google, Twitter, Meta, and IAMAI have met several times over the past few days to discuss the form and makeup of the GAC, an ET article quoting sources claims. IAMAI’s suggestions were backed by Meta and Twitter, while Google executives were against the GAC because it would require the businesses to alter their internal content regulation rules.
