Krutrim, the AI startup founded by Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal, is set to drive AI innovation in India with a suite of cutting-edge offerings. Over the weekend, the company announced its ambitious plans, including the launch of Krutrim Cloud—a platform designed to democratize AI development and significantly reduce costs for enterprises and developers.
Bhavish Aggarwal, the visionary behind Krutrim and Ola, expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture. He stated, “With this, the company aims to develop full-stack AI capabilities that will allow enterprises, researchers, and developers to develop new-age technology products at a fraction of current costs.”
Krutrim Cloud will provide developers and enterprises with advanced GPU resources and hardware for accelerating AI projects and improving productivity. Developers will have the flexibility to monitor usage, manage resources, and scale up or down based on project needs.
Aggarwal emphasized the significance of this launch, declaring, “With today’s launch, we are now the cheapest open-source cloud service provider in the world.”
Moreover, Krutrim’s offerings include a Model-as-a-Service (MaaS), granting access to foundational language models and open-source models hosted on its cloud. These models, coupled with Python SDKs, are tailored to facilitate the creation of India-specific AI products, leveraging Krutrim’s expertise in Indian languages and cultural nuances.
For enterprises focused on location-based services, Krutrim will integrate Ola Maps into its platform, offering APIs and SDKs like Places API, Tiles API, Routing APIs, and Navigation SDKs.
Krutrim has also unveiled a standalone Android app for its AI chatbot, with an iOS version in the pipeline. Aggarwal highlighted the potential impact of this innovation, stating, “Our Krutrim assistant app will revolutionize the adoption of GenAI with its ability for seamless integration into everyone’s life by solving the complexity and fragmentation often experienced with digital tools and services.”
In line with its sustainability goals, Krutrim plans to develop indigenous data centers, server-computing, edge-computing, and even custom silicon and chips. Aggarwal revealed plans for a data center in Bengaluru and prototypes for its own silicon chip by mid-2024.
Krutrim’s strides in AI have already attracted significant attention, with the startup achieving unicorn status earlier this year following a $50 million financing round led by Matrix Partners India.
The company is set to unveil its full pricing strategy in the coming weeks, promising to disrupt the AI landscape in India and globally.
