The centre is debating whether to forward with the plan to establish a GAC to handle complaints about content on social media platforms.
A government official was quoted by the Business Standard as adding that social media platforms wanting to establish self-regulatory bodies of intermediaries will need to adhere to the same procedure as GAC. MeitY had earlier contacted social media middlemen from overseas, the spokesman revealed. After hearing their comments regarding the self-regulatory body’s inclusivity, the centre has made the decision to move through with its plan to establish GAC.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it.
