Apple’s head of accessibility to attend Web Summit Lisbon 2024

This year’s Web Summit Lisbon kicks off next week, and guests will have the chance to attend a talk by Sarah Herrlinger, Apple’s current global head of accessibility. Unsurprisingly, the presentation will discuss how Apple considers accessibility when building its products.

Apple to attend this year’s Web Summit

“For four decades, Apple has designed with disability in mind. Accessibility is a core value at Apple, infused into all of the company’s products, services and operations,” says the event description (via iFeed.pt).

Herrlinger has worked at Apple since 2003 and became senior director of accessibility initiatives in 2015. According to the Web Summit organization, she will talk about how AI is enabling new experiences for users with disabilities, among other topics.

“Join Apple’s global head of accessibility, Sarah Herrlinger, to hear about the innovations that have been driven by designing for users with disabilities, how AI and machine learning are powering new experiences for disabled users, and why Apple believes that accessibility is a human right.”

This is not the first time that Apple has participated in the Web Summit. In previous years, the event has had guests such as Apple’s VP of health Dr. Sumbul Desai and even Apple’s head of software engineering Craig Federighi.

Herrlinger’s talk will take place on Tuesday, November 12, at 2:50 p.m. Lisbon time. You can find more details on the official Web Summit website.

Long before Edgar Wright’s The Running Man hits theaters this week, the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz had been thinking about making it. He read the original 1982 novel by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman) as a boy and excitedly went to theaters in 1987 to see the film version, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
